The advancement of digital technology and the proliferation of global platforms and online content services are rapidly transforming the ways information is produced and distributed. Beyond traditional press and broadcasting, the media industry is evolving into a new ecosystem where diverse fields—including content, digital platforms, creators, education, and research—are interconnected.

These epochal changes demand that the media fulfill its role as a vital public good that builds social trust and promotes cultural diversity and international mutual understanding and cooperation, beyond merely delivering information.

While digital transformation and new media technologies significantly expand access to information and possibilities for content creation, they also pose new challenges, such as the spread of disinformation, decline in media trust, and deepening social conflicts. Consequently, the value of free and responsible journalism and the creation of a healthy media ecosystem have become more critical imperatives than ever.

In particular, while the Asia-Pacific region is growing into the world's most dynamic media and content market, a public-interest international network enabling continuous exchange and cooperation among journalists, media workers, content creators, research institutes, educational institutions, corporations, and public entities across borders and disciplines remains insufficient.

Therefore, we aim to build an international cooperation foundation that connects people, institutions, and nations through media, and establish an open international media network where diverse stakeholders—including journalism, broadcasting, content, digital platforms, cultural industries, academia, research institutes, corporations, and public institutions—participate together to discuss common issues and collaborate.

With Truth, Diversity, and Peace as its core values, the Association strives to contribute to the development of a healthy media ecosystem, the promotion of cultural diversity, and the expansion of international exchange and cooperation based on free and responsible journalism. Furthermore, to actively respond to the changing media environment and establish a public-interest international foundation in which individuals and organizations from various fields participate together, we hereby establish the Asia Pacific Media Association.
